'Batu Caves Temple sketchbook' originated as a sketchbook drawing at Batu Caves Malaysia. Invited to show in Rhizomatic' at the Departure Gallery I wanted to make a piece that would hold up in such an enormous space. The linear image is printed on diaphanous silk, and although invisible from a distance become solid as you approach. The movement of the fabric confers a strong sculptural quality from a distance, and the small image retains the intimate quality of the original sketchbook.
